Romauld “Romi” Ferreira was born in Nassau on September 3rd, 1969 to May and Joseph Ferreira. He received his early education at St. Mathews Parish and Queens College.
He completed studies leading to the award of a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Ecology & Chemistry from the University of the West Indies in 1990. He obtained an LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincolns Inn in 2000 and to The Bahamas bar in 2001.. He is also an affiliate member of The Bahamas Society of Engineers.
Romi began his legal career at Graham Thompson & Co before joining Bannister & Company and in 2004 established the law firm Ferreira & Co specializing in environmental law and consultancy.
Romi has been in the forefront of environmental issues on the national front in support of non-governmental environmental organizations. During the past 14 months he has become a strong advocate for the residents of the Marathon Constituency most impacted by the Rubis gas spill.
