The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement in response to Philip Brave Davis’ continued politically driven rhetoric criticizing the Government’s pandemic response:
“Throughout his life, even before entering politics, Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis has had the main goals of protecting and saving lives. He has continued to operate with that mentality during the global pandemic.
“This vision and proactive approach have led to The Bahamas ranking as one of only 28 countries currently beating COVID-19, according to EndCoronavirus.org, an international volunteer organization of 4,000 scientists, community organizers and individuals. Last week, the Global COVID-19 Index identified The Bahamas as among the countries with ‘a low percentage of infections and resulting deaths per population’.
“The Minnis Administration understands that in order to maintain this success we must remain vigilant. The pandemic is not over. We must continue to follow the health measures that have helped keep cases low thus far.
“Davis and his PLP colleagues continue asking what the plan is to prevent a third wave while simultaneously criticizing the very actions our Government takes to prevent a third wave. The woeful PLP’s nonsensical political games aren’t keeping anyone safe.
“Despite the PLP’s politically driven antics, Prime Minister Minnis will continue making the tough but necessary decisions. He will use the guidance of leading healthcare professionals to implement policies to help prevent a third wave and keep Bahamians safe. We encourage our friends in opposition to end the political games and work with the Government for the good of all Bahamians.”
