The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding the Government’s business grant program yielding positive results:
“Last year was beyond challenging for Bahamians – including entrepreneurs and business owners. During these difficult times our Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert Minnis, has prioritized health and safety while also working with urgency to bring relief to local businesses.
“Since the start of the pandemic, the Minnis Administration has dedicated $47.3 million in grants and loans to small businesses. Hundreds of businesses applied for assistance in the second round of grant disbursements.
“These efforts have been described as good for the economy and local communities. Small businesses are the engine of our economy. Prime Minster Minnis grew up Over-the-Hill. He knows firsthand the struggles of working families. He knows the resiliency and ingenuity of Bahamians.
“The Prime Minister understands we have much work to do to recover from the economic despair caused by the pandemic. He remains committed to working to provide the necessary plans for the recovery to reach all segments of the country.
“This administration believes hope can exist even in the most challenging times. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Minnis our Government will continue fighting for all Bahamians and their businesses. Our Government is doing the hard work to continue re-opening the economy in a safe and responsible manner.”
