The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding the Government’s leadership in managing the pandemic to allow for a safe reopening:
“The resort openings in recent days have been an encouraging sign and testament to the work the Minnis Administration is doing to deliver a safe and responsible re-opening. And while there is no doubt these are positive signs, our Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert Minnis, continues to implore all of us to stay vigilant in the fight against the deadly virus. From the outset the Prime Minister has been focused first and foremost on saving lives while also seeking ways to get us back to work in a safe and sustainable manner.
“Whether signing the MoU with SISCO Systems in Grand Bahama, or the continued investment in infrastructure developments throughout our country, this FNM Government remains focused on building a solid foundation for a diversified economy that positions us for the future. The unprecedented global pandemic and the historic hurricane may have impacted those efforts, but they have not changed the goal and focus of the Minnis Administration to build a better Bahamas for everyone – not just the chosen few.
“The Prime Minister has shown the strength and foresight to make the tough decisions that saved lives. Under his leadership and direction our Government has evolved. It has become more transparent, more accountable and far more responsive to the people it serves – that is, all Bahamians, and not a select few. We applaud the Administration’s efforts that led to a safe and responsible reopening and the new job-growing opportunities underway. These developments are desperately needed rays of hope to all Bahamians and signs of better days ahead.”
