The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding Perry Christie’s statements regarding the pandemic response:
“It’s funny how the old and tired Brave Davis’ puppet master is now speaking for him. One wonders when Perry Christie had this epiphany of collaboration when it was his insular Government that worked in secret – making secret deals – that all but sunk our country. But just like his chief lieutenant Davis, Christie chooses to ignore the facts in an attempt to score political points during a global pandemic.
“The fact is the Minnis Administration has worked collaboratively with health experts and community leaders to implement a scientific, data-driven approach to managing the pandemic. That work has saved lives. It is, in fact, Christie’s wayward second-in-command who chose a partisan political path during the pandemic, even ignoring meetings. Davis has launched weekly attacks – at least during the weeks he was in the country.
“It is not lost on anyone that Christie’s sudden epiphany to listen and work in solidarity is a marked departure from his failed tenure leading the country. It was everyday Bahamians consistently calling upon the former Prime Minister to hear their cries demanding an end to the PLP Administration’s corruption and negligence. Their demands fell on deaf ears for five years.
“Christie would be better served to get Davis to start working toward constructive solutions as opposed to silly attacks designed to generate political sound bites and headlines at a time when the country faces unprecedented challenges. In the meantime, our FNM Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Minnis will continue prioritizing health and safety while fighting to meet the needs of those struggling from the impact of the crisis.”
