The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding Sir Godfrey Kelly:
“The Free National Movement congratulates Sir Godfrey Kelly on the reception of his knighthood at Government House on Monday, September 28, 2020. His knighthood is part of Queen Elizabeth’s 2020 New Year’s Honors.
“Sir Godfrey has lived a distinguished life and earned this honor. He is a noted attorney, having practiced law for more than six decades. He was an Olympian, who participated for The Bahamas in multiple Games for sailing. He was a Member of Parliament and Minister of Education, and is a successful businessman.
“Sir Godfrey is a co-founder of the Cat Island Regatta and has given generously over the years to sailing and numerous other worthwhile endeavors toward nation building.
“Sir Godfrey is a proud Bahamian who has helped many with his talents and resources over his long, acclaimed life.
“We thank Sir Godfrey for his many years of loyal and generous service to The Bahamas.”
