The Free National Movement issued the following statement in response to the PLP’s latest efforts to obstruct the Government’s COVID-19 response effort:
“Every time Philip Brave Davis opens his mouth Bahamians everywhere come away thankful he is not leading the Government at this critical time. His irrational rants and weekly contradictions have even his staunch supporters wondering what it would take for him to stop drawing attention to himself. His ramblings have brought the once proud PLP to new lows where they prioritize partisan political attacks in a crisis while refusing to offer solutions and true leadership to the country.
“First, he criticized early COVID-19 response measures as not enough; then it was too much; then back to not enough. It’s gotten difficult to keep score of Brave’s ever-shifting positions.
“Bahamians have witnessed unprecedented, back-to-back crises and are looking for leaders to work together. Yet, the PLP is more inclined to launch politically motivated attacks than offer real solutions. Their constant attacks on the Government during a health crisis amount to a slap in the face to all fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19. Their behavior demonstrates the PLP’s failure in leadership.
“Typical PLP antics aside, our Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert Minnis, continues to take the necessary steps to rein in the virus while working to ensure our healthcare professionals are adequately resourced. His Government is providing social assistance for those struggling under the lockdown while also leading a data driven approach to saving lives. Safety comes first to the Prime Minister. He wants to ensure Bahamians are safe before lifting lockdown measures. Brave Davis and his crew of political opportunists would be well advised to take note because that’s what true leaders do.”
